26th Generation: Sir Henry de Hastings

  • Henry was born on April 23, 1240, in Ashill, Norfolk.
  • He married Joan de Cantelowe before 1261, and they had five children together: John, Edmund, Lora, Joan, and Ada.
  • Henry served King Henry III against the Welsh. He became a prominent Baron against the King. He was knighted before the Battle of Lewes where the King was captured.
  • Henry was summoned to Parliament on December 14, 1264.
  • He was wounded and taken prisoner at the Battle of Evesham on August 4, 1265. He was pardoned, and then fought on from Kenilworth Castle until October 28, 1265. His lands were confiscated then.
  • He was fully pardoned on July 27, 1267.
  • Henry died on March 5, 1269. (29 years old) He is buried at St. Michaels Cathedral in Coventry.

26th Generation: Joan de Cantelowe

  • Joan was born in 1243 in Calne Wiltshire. She was the daughter of William de Cantelowe and Eva de Braose.
  • She married Henry before 1261, and they had five children together:
    • John (who we are descended from) (1262-1313)

    • Lora
    • Joan
    • Ada
  • Joan died in 1271 (28 years old) in Allesley Coventry. She is buried at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Coventry.
