25th Generation: Sir John de Hastings

• John was born on May 6, 1262, in Allesley Coventry, Warwickshire.
• He married Isabel le Despenser, and they had three children together: Hugh, Thomas, and Margaret.
• John received the title of Baron in 1273 and inherited Abergavenny Castle on the death of his uncle. John fought with King Edward I in Scotland, Ireland, and France.
• John attempted to claim the Scottish throne as the grandson of Ada, third daughter of King David, but he was unsuccessful.
• John died on February 28, 1313, (51 years old) at Abergavenny Monmouthshire, Wales. He is buried at Greyfriars Church in Coventry.

25th Generation: Isabel le Despensier

• Isabel was born around 1265 in Gloucestershire, England. She was the daughter of Hugh le Despenser and Isabella de Beauchamp.
• She had married a previous man, and then married John after 1305. She was also John’s second wife. John had previous children with his first wife. Isabel and John had three children together:
  • Hugh (who we are descended from) (1307-1347)
  • Thomas
  • Margaret (Married Robert de Waterville)
• Isabel died on December 4, 1334, (69 years old) in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
