24th Generation: Sir Hugh de Hastings

• Hugh was born in 1307 in Allesley Coventry, Warwickshire.
• He married Margery Foliot on May 18, 1330, and they had five children together: John, Hugh, Isabel, Maud, and Margaret.
• Hugh was an important military commander under King Edward III. He served in France and at Flanders at the Battle of Crecy.
• Hugh died on June 7, 1347, (40 years old) in Elsing, Norfolk. He is buried in the Chancel of Saint Mary of the Virgin Church in Elsing, Norfolk. An elaborate brass art of him remains and survives in the church (see link for picture).

24th Generation: Margery Foliot

• Margery was born in 1313 in Mitford, Northumberland. She was the daughter of Sir Richard Foliot.
• Margery married Hugh on May 18, 1330, and they had five children together:
  • John (1328-1393)
  • Hugh (who we are descended from) (1336-1369)
  • Isabel
  • Maud
  • Margaret
• Margery died on August 8, 1349 (36 years old). She is buried at Friars in Doncaster, Yorkshire.
