12th Generation: Coenraat Hendrickse Borghhardt

  • Coenraat was born in 1670 in Claverick, New York.
  • He married Geesje Hendrickse Van Wie on November 12, 1693, in Albany, New York. They had eleven children together: Maritje, Hendrick, Styntje, Ytje, Jan, Coenraat, Gerrit, Petrus, Jacobus, Stinche, and Ari.
  • Coenraat engaged in fur trade with the Indians along the New England Path that ran from Albany to Boston. In 1717, he applied for rights to purchase 4,000 acres south east of Kinderhook. This included a large part of the Housatonic Valley. He acted as an interpreter to settlers in purchases from Indians. He owned what is now the Agricultural Grounds, 200 acres in the town of Richmond and 1,000 acres in the present town of Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
  • Coenraat died in 1750 (80 years old) in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

  • Geesje was born in 1680 in Albany, New York.
  • She married Coenraat on November 12, 1693 in Albany, New York. They have eleven children together:
