- Janse was born in 1609 in Husum, Schlesweig-Holstein, Denmark.
- He married Volkje Van Noorstrandt, and they had one child together, Marya.
- Janse arrieved in New York on July 7, 1639 on the ship “Den Harlinck.” He served as commissioner of the Dutch West Indies Company. He bought several hundred acres along the Hudson River near Claverack. He was the first settler near Claverack Landing (now Hudson).
- Janse died in 1667 (58 years old) in Claverack, New York.

- Volkje was born in 1618 in Noorstrandt Island, Denmark (now Germany).
- She married Janse and they had one child together:
- Marya (who we are descended from) (1652-1694) Born in New York.
- Volkje died in 1703 (85 years old) in Albany, New York.
