28th Generation: Gerald FitzWalther

• Gerald was born in Windsor Castle.
• He married Nest ferch Rhys. They had at least five children together: William, Maurice, Davis, Angharad, and Gwladys.
• Gerald was the first governor of Pembroke Castle in Wales. He was in charge of the Norman forces in southwest Wales. He is the ancestor of the Fitzgerald, FitzMaurice, and DeBarry dynasties in Ireland. He withstood the Welsh siege of Pembroke in 1096 and was awarded additional lands. In 1102 he traveled to Ireland to negotiate the marriage of his Overlord with the daughter of the Irish King. He built Cilgerran Castle in Wales in 1108.

• Nest was born in Wales.
• Her father was Rhys ap Tewdwr (now Tudor), Prince of the last King of Deheubarth I of Wales. He was known as the last king of the Britions.
• The Tudors are descended from her father.
• Nest and Gerald married and he built Cilgerran Castle for her. They had at least five children together:
  • William FitzGerald (?-?) He was Lord of Carew
  • Maurice FitzGerald (1105-1176) (we are descended from him)
  • Davis FitzGerald (?-?) He was Bishop of St. David’s.

• It is unknown when Nest died. She was known as a beautiful lady.
