- John was born on August 29, 1675, in Surrey, England.
- He married Ann A. Bell in 1696 in Carteret County, North Carolina. They had five children together: Thomas, John, George (who we are descended from), James, and Sarah.
- John was a ship’s captain. He arrived in North Carolina in 1695. His family were shipwrights and owned schooners. He owned Nelson plantation and other lands in Bath, Carteret, and other nearby counties. Nelson Bay is named after him.
- Captain John died on June 11, 1759, (84 years old) at his hunting quarters near his plantation in Carteret County, North Carolina.
10th Generation: Ann A. Bell
- Ann was born in 1677 in Craven County, North Carolina.
- She married Captain John in 1696 in Carteret County, North Carolina. They had five children together:
- Thomas (1700-1750) (50 years old)
- John (1701-1755) (54 years old)
- George (who we are descended from) (1708-1745) (37 years old)
- James (1710-1767) (57 years old)
- Sarah (1713-1751) (38 years old)
- Ann died in 1754 (77 years old) in Carteret County, North Carolina.
