*13th Generation: Rev. John Lathrop
- John was born in 1584 in Egerton, Kent, England.
- He married Hannah Howse, and they had at least one child together, Samuel.
- John attended Queens College in Cambridge and was originally ordained in the Church of England. He became a Congregationalist and was subsequently jailed along with many of his congregation by the Bishop in Newgate Prison from 1632 to 1634. During this time, his wife Hannah died, and his children were reduced to begging in the street. Upon his release, he and his living children left for the colonies.
- John arrived with his congregation on September 18, 1634, on the boat the “Griffin.” He was one of the founders of Barnstaple, Massachusetts.
- John died on November 8, 1653, (69 years old) in Barnstaple, Massachusetts.
- Hannah was born in 1588 in Egerton Kent, England.
- She married John, and they had at least one child together:
- Samuel (who we are descended from) (1622-1700) (78 years old)
- Hannah died on February 16, 1633, (45 years old) in London, England.
