*12th Generation: Dr. John Woodson

• John was born in 1586 in Dorchester, Devon, England.
• He married Sarah Winston in 1619, and they had four children together: John, Robert (who we are descended from), Benjamin, and Deborah.
• John graduated from Oxford University. He was the surgeon for the Fleur De Hundred Colony.
• John and Sarah moved to Jamestown, Virginia, in April of 1619.
• John died on April 18, 1644, (58 years old) in the Indian Massacre of 1644. He was lured out of his house to help an Indian child. His wife and friends fought off the rest of the Indians. The muzzle loading 8 foot long rifle used by his wife is now a prized possession of the Virginia Historical Society. His descendants include Dolly Madison and Jesse James.

*12th Generation: Sarah Winston

• Sarah was born in 1590 in Dorchester, Devon, England.
• She married John in 1619, and they had four children together:
  • John (1632-1684) (52 years old) Born in Virginia
  • Robert (who we are descended from) (1634-1707) (73 years old)
  • Benjamin (1640-1684) (44 years old)
  • Deborah (1641-?)
• Sarah died on January 17, 1666, (76 years old) in Henrico County, Virginia.
