6th Generation: Evan Savera Singletary

  • Evan was born in 1813 in Bladen County, North Carolina.
  • He married Ruth Howell in 1829, and they had four children together: Eleanor, James, Joseph, and Ithamar (who we are descended from).
  • After the last child was born, the family moved from North Carolina to Alabama. After Ruth died in 1836, he married a lady named Martha. The 1850 census shows the family in Milam County. He owned city blocks 1-15 in St. Jo, Texas. He operated the first flour mill there. Evan was also elected first commissioner of precinct four in 1860.
  • Evan died in 1892 (79 years old) in Montague County, Texas.

6th Generation: Ruth Howell

  • Ruth was born in 1807 in Robeson, North Carolina.
  • She married Evan in 1829, and they had four children together:
    • Eleanor L. Jones (1829 – ?) 1880 census showed her living in McLennan County
    • Ithamer (who we are descended from) (1830-1898) (68 years old)
    • James (1832 – ?)
    • Joseph (1836 – ?) Born in Alabama, died in Texas.
  • Ruth died in 1836 (29 years old) in Coffee, Alabama.
