*14th Generation: Sir William Smith Bryan
- Sir William was born in 1600 in County Clare, Ireland.
- He married Lady Catherine Morgan on June 2, 1624. They had seven children together: Morgan, Henry, Edward, John (who we are descended from), Edmund, James, and Margaret.
- During the English Civil War, he attempted to lead a rebellion in Ireland, but he was defeated. He was a Protestant, so the Catholics were wary of him. Oliver Cromwell confiscated his lands and deported his family to Virginia. He brought along his horses that he bred. He is considered to be one of the founders of thoroughbred breeding in the Americas.
- Sir William died in 1667 (67 years old) in Gloucester, Virginia (Bryan Island).
