11th Generation: Woodham Needham Bryan(t)

  • Woodham was born on February 11, 1690, at Isle of Wight, Virginia.
  • He married Anne Rombeau on November 16, 1711, in Bertie County, North Carolina. They had 8 children together: William, Sarah, Samuel, Rachel, William, Needham (who we are descended from), David, and Elizabeth.
  • After Anne died, he married Susannah Harrell from 1732-1753. After Susannah died, he married Sarah Woodward from 1753-1776.
  • In official documents, he sometimes spelled his last name with a T at the end. His son Needham used the BRYANT spelling on his offical documents also. Woodham bought 640 acres in Bertie County on the Moratuck River in 1721. Five years later he bought 210 acres called Snowfield Plantation. Woodham represented Bertie County in the Colonial Assembly.
  • Woodham died on January 2, 1777, (87 years old) at Snowfield Plantation in Bertie County, North Carolina. Woodham and all of his wives are buried on the grounds of the old plantation.
  • Snowfield Plantation in west end of Indian Woods Road.; Indian Woods Township, Lewiston-Woodville, North Carolina. Information provided by Wayne Modlin in 1958 survey. Snowfield Plantation burned in 1968 and tombstones can no longer be located. Near Highway 308 and Highway 11.

  • Anne was born on March 7, 1694, in Isle of Wight, Virginia.
  • Anne married Woodham on November 16,1711. They had 8 children together:
    • William (1713-1784 in Martin County, North Carolina)
    • Sarah (1716-?)
    • Samuel (1716-1783)
    • Rachel (1723-1780)
    • William (1724-1781 in Johnston, Virginia)
    • Needham (who we are descended from) (1726-1770)
    • David (1728-1760)
    • Elizabeth (1728-1741)
  • Anne died on January 16, 1730, (36 years old) at Snowfield Plantation, Bertie County, North Carolina. She is buried on the old plantation ground.
